Will this adapter work on my 2017 Ford Explorer XLT with towing package? Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers Item # 3016 and paired with a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional - 90885 ? If not, could you recommend a brake controller with a wiring adapter?

In your 2017 Ford Explorer XLT with the factory tow package installation of a Tekonsha brake controller like the Prodigy # 90885 will require wiring adapter part # 3035-P. This will plug in between the controller and the under-dash connection port.
Part # 3016 allows controller installation in compatible GM vehicles.
