Recommended Trailer Brake Controller and Transmission Cooler for 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser
Question:
Much appreciated your technical support, your advice is very accurate and I feel much better about my decision. One more question: The FJ Cruiser come with factory hitch and plug lights. I need to install a brake system for the trailer, and also I need to install a oil cooler - transmition system. Much appreciated.

If there is already a 4-way connector installed on the 2007 FJ Cruiser to power the trailer's signal lights, you will just need to use the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This will include everything necessary to add a fully functional 7-Way and install a trailer brake controller on your vehicle. I have attached a detailed article on the ETBC7 installation process that you might find helpful.
For a trailer brake controller, I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. This is a proportional controller that will activate your trailer's brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your FJ Cruiser. It features an easy-to-read digital display along with continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues. This unit is well known for its reliability and ease of installation. I have included the written installation details for you to look over.
For a transmission cooler, I recommend looking at the Derale Transmission Cooler # D13503. This is a great plate-fin style cooler that will help to prolong the life of your transmission and improve its overall performance. The unit is 11 inches wide, 8-3/4 inches tall and 7/8 inches deep. I recommend measuring the space between the vehicle's grille and AC condenser core to ensure there will be adequate room for installing this system.
I have attached a video demonstration on this product as well as a helpful article on transmission coolers for you to look through.
