How To Tow A 2-Wire Trailer System With A 3-Wire Vehicle System

Question:

Hi, I have a truck that has separate wires for the signal lights and the brake lights. The trailer is set up with the brake lights and signal lights on the same wire. How can I hook up my trailer lights with out causing both signals to blink? Do you have a converter/adapter or something to take care of this problem? Thanks for any suggestions,

In order to tow a trailer that has a 2-wire lighting circuit with a truck that has a 3-wire lighting circuit, you will need a converter box system such as the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness with Installation Kit # 119250KIT. This will allow you to use the 3-wire system on your vehicle with the 2-wire system on your trailer.

If your trailer has a 7-way connector, you will also need to install an adapter such as the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole part # 37185 in order for you to hook up the 7-way on you trailer to the 4-way on your vehicle.

We may have a plug and play option for you however, I would need to know your vehicle's year, make, and model in order for me to be able to offer my recommendation. I have included a review video of each product for you.
