Question:
Hello, I am going to buy this product: C45036 2inch diameter ball on a 2hitch mount and I am wondering if product C40002 1-7/8inch diameter ball will fit into the hitch mount. Thank you

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2" Ball # C45036 has a hitch ball shank diameter of 1". The 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # C40002 that you asked about has a shank diameter of 1" as well so it will fit just fine. You will just want to make sure that you get the nut torqued before towing.
Please keep in mind that the 1-7/8" hitch ball has a weight capacity of 3,500 lbs so the ball mount that is rated for 7,500 lbs will have the same capacity as the lower hitch ball.
