Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2006 GMC Sierra Short Bed
Question:
I just bought a 2006 GMC 2500 HD with a crew cab and 6 1/2 foot box. It previously had a Reese number 3004 7/ fifth wheel hitch in the box but it is no longer there since the holes are already in the box for that hitch I would like to replace it with the same model. Will I need a slide? What rails would be appropriate for this hitch? I see you have noted A number 30047 hitch and an RP 30047 hitch. What is the difference between these two models? Thanks for your help.

Since your 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD is a short bed you would need a slider hitch to allow you to make tight turns without cab interference. Our part # RP30047 (same as Reese 30047) is a stationary hitch so the best alternative would then be slider version of this hitch which is part # RP30075 so that you'd have the turning clearance needed.
For a rail kit you'd want to go with a custom fit kit as it will minimize drilling when compare to a universal one. For that the best option is the part # RP50064-58.
