Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Assemblies that Sound like they are Activating in Reverse
Question:
We purchased a Tekonsha P2 brake controller for our 2015 Dodge Durango to tow our 23ft. Keystone Travel Trailer. Ive noticed that the brakes sound like they are locked when reversing. We turn off the brake controller for reversing, but this doesnt resolve the issue. Can you advise on a possible reason or solution?

The issue is not brake controller related since it persisted when the controller was disconnected.
If I were you I would jack the trailer up in the air to see if the wheel can be turned by hand in either direction. You should feel a slight drag on the drums as you do so as that's the proper brake assembly adjustment.
To see how to manually adjust trailer brake assemblies check out the video I attached, fast-forward to the 4:35 mark of the video.
If the problem persists you'd want to take the wheels and hubs off to see if you can find where the problem is with either the assemblies or the hubs.
