Recommendation to Increase Gap Between Truck Side Rails and 5th-Wheel with Reese Revolution Pin Box

Question:

I have a 2014 Forest River Flagstaff Classic 8528RKWS 5th wheel with a Reese Revolution 10K pin box. My hitch is a PullRite 3300 16K and the Reese is bolted down to defer to the PullRite Slider. The problem is I only have just over 3” between the top of the truck side rails and the bottom of the 5th wheel. There doesn’t appear to be any height adjustment on either the PullRite 3300 or the Reese Revolution 10K. Conventional wisdom suggests a 6” gap between the truck and the bottom of the 5th wheel. What are my options in terms of correcting the gap to 5-6”?

The best option for increasing the gap between your truck side rails and the Forest River Flagstaff Classic Fifth Wheel overhang may be to simply replace your PullRite hitch with a taller fifth wheel hitch. Based on my research, it does not appear that the PullRite 3300 has an adjustable height. The Reese Revolution Pin Box on your trailer can also not be adjusted. As you mentioned in your question, you will want a gap of at least around 6 inches between the side rails of your truck and the overhang of your trailer to ensure proper clearance.

For a fifth wheel hitch, I recommend looking at the B&W Patriot 16K # BWRVK3200. The Patriot has a 16,000 pound gross towing weight and an adjustable hitch height of up to 19 inches. It is compatible with industry-standard, above-bed rails. If you do not have industry standard rails installed on your truck, I will be happy to recommend a custom kit if you are able to tell me the year/make/model of your truck.

I have attached a video demonstration on this product for you to check out.
