Weight Distribution Recommendation for 2012 Honda Pilot
Question:
We have a 1960 Shasta Camper, 19foot long, 2500lbs, sits low to the ground. Will be towed with 2012 Honda Pilot 2WD w ATF cooler, rated at 4500lbs. 1. Would you recommend an anti sway system? 2. Do you carry temporary tail lights in case the trailer ones malfunction? 3. Our driveway has a steep angle off the road, Im worried about dragging the trailer...any recommendations? Boards for wheels, just in case? Thank you for your help...I can sent pics of driveway to show angle. The trailer was towed here by an F350 and cleared ok but, our Honda sits lower.

Any time your tow vehicle is towing a trailer that weighs more than 50 percent of the total weight of the trailer it is recommended that a weight distribution system be used.
The part # RP66540 would be an excellent option as it has a tongue weight range of 200 lbs - 600 lbs which should be perfect for you.
For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
It's not a common practice to bring temporary trailer lights in case the trailer's fail. If the lights are working now I wouldn't feel the need to insist you bring a back up set.
So if the trailer was able to clear the drive way with a larger truck in reality that means it should also clear with your vehicle.
The trailer will be the exact same height from the ground when level when being towed with either vehicle so you shouldn't have any less ground clearance.
