The top of the line electric brake controller that we carry is the Prodigy P3 # 90195. The P3 stands above the rest because of the LCD, 5 storable settings, and that it can be mounted anywhere on a vertical plane. It also can be used with electric and electric over hydraulic trailer brakes.
For a more economical option we also have the Primus IQ # TK90160. The Primus IQ is another quality controller. However, it does work only with electric trailer brakes and must be mounted within 90-degrees on the vertical plane. It will support up to 3 trailer axles where the P3 can handle up to 4.
Both controllers hardwire into your 2016 Kia Sorento in the same fashion. If you already have a 7-way trailer connector at the rear then you'll need to run wiring from the connector to power the controller. Use # 5506. If the Kia came equipped with a 4-way connector you'll need to convert it to a 7-way using our # ETBC7 kit. This includes the 7-way connector plus everything you'll need for either brake controller to work with your trailer.
I've included a few videos to help you decide on a controller, and install the wiring on your Kia.
