Troubleshooting Hopkins Plug and Play 4-Pole Trailer Wiring Harness 42475 for 2003 Jeep Liberty

Question:

I installed this kit, no issues but when I tested the lights on the trailer I did not have left turn signal, what am I missing?

A 4-pole wiring harness like Hopkins # 42475 combines the stop and turn light signals from the Liberty onto one wire for each side of the trailer. The green wire carries passenger side brake and turn signals and the yellow carries the same two signals for the driver side of the trailer.

If you have a left brake light signal but you are finding that you do not have a left turn signal this could mean that one of the pins inside the vehicle or harness connectors is not making proper contact with the mating pin. Check for trapped foreign material, or simply a pin that is bent, which could prevent it making proper contact.

You can also disconnect the harness and check that the vehicle's own light are all functioning correctly. If the vehicle left turn signal is not working then there would not be a signal for the trailer harness to pass on to the trailer.
