Best Fastway E2 Weight Distribution System For A Loaded Trailer Weight Of 5000 Lbs.
Question:
Hi, Im interested in purchasing the Fastway E2 to pull my 20foot 2008 Aerolite Cub 4000lb empty, 5000lb loaded. My question is should I purchase the 600/6000lb version, or the 800/8000lb? In 2-3 years I could see us upgrading to a trailer that would weight 5000-6000lb empty, but no more. Will the WD bars for the 800/8000lb E2 be too strong/harsh for my 08 Aerolite Cub? My tow vehicle is a 17 Nissan Titan 4x4 crew cab and can handle either trailer.

In order to determine the correct weight distribution system for your towing setup, you will need to calculate the tongue weight of your loaded ready to tow trailer and any weight stored behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. This will give you the total tongue weight needed to find the best weight distribution system. I recommend using a tongue weight scale such as the etrailer Trailer Tongue Weight Scale part # e99044 to find this.
For a total tongue weight of 400-800 lbs. I recommend using the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control part # FA94-00-0800. The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control part # FA94-00-0600 will not provide enough support.
If you do decide to upgrade to a heavier trailer in the future, you can always replace the spring bars with a set rated for higher capacities such as the Replacement Round Spring Bar for Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Systems part # FA94-02-1099.
I have attached a help article to determine your total tongue weight in addition to a weight distribution article.
