For your 2010 Jeep Commander, since you don't have a factory tow package you will need a wiring system that does connect behind your vehicle tail lights. I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118408. Using a wiring harness designed for use with the factory tow package like # 118381 will not work by adding fuses.

If your Commander is like the Grand Cherokee in that all the wiring connects, then you can take it to the dealer and have them update your computer programming. Normally this is quite a bit more expensive than adding the non-tow package wiring harness, but reprogramming the computer for those functions should work.

Okay, 7-way. For that you would want either the Hopkins Endurance Quick-Install 7-Way Trailer Connector # HM42190 or the Tekonsha Multi-Plug T-One Connector Assembly for 7-Way & 4 Pole Trailer Connector # 20135. This is the replacement for the factory 7-way that will work with your Jeep Commander now that your computer has the tow package turned on.
