Changing a 4-Pole Connector to a 5-Pole Connector on a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

Question:

We have a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder and I installed a 4 way trailer hitch wiring on. We need a 5-way adaptor for the boat trailer we are about to buy. Can I use a 4 way 5 way adaptor? If not is there a 5 way wiring system for our vehicle? I cant seem to find that product.

You can use the Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Wiring Adapter # 20036 for a 5-Pole on your 2003 Nissan Pathfinder. You will just want to verify what that 5th option is for. If it is for your back up lights then it will work great; all you will need to do is connect the blue wire on the adapter to the back up wiring on your Pathfinder. You can use a Circuit Tester # PTW2993 like the installer uses in the attached video to find which wire is for your back up lights on your Pathfinder.

If your trailer is using that 5th function for 12V power or for Brakes then you will need to look into some other options. If your trailer will be using either of these functions just let me know which one it is and I can help you get the appropriate wiring connector for your Pathfinder and trailer.
