Question:
Hi there! I recently bought a 2013 BMW X5 35i, I was wondering if this hitch will fit the car without changing the bumper? And if so, can it tow a boat? Thanks!

Yes, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75600 is compatible with your 2013 BMW X5 35i. Although you will not have to change or replace the rear bumper on your vehicle, you will have to temporarily remove the fascia in order to install the hitch as described in the installation instructions from the manufacturer. It will also require you to trim the bottom of the rear fascia about 6-8" for an exact fit.
The rear bumper fascia can be removed by undoing the 6 screws located on the very bottom of the cover followed by the 3 plastic rivets located on the rear inner fender wheels, which hold on the wheel well molding. Once all of these fasteners are removed you will then need to pry up the wheel molding and remove the additional 2 screw underneath. The rest of the process involves disconnecting the clearance lights which is outlined in the attached video.
In comparison to other hitches for your vehicle, the Draw-Tite will prove to be the easier install. If you do not feel comfortable installing the hitch yourself. A reputable shop will be able to complete this for a minimal charge.
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver is a class III hitch receiver capable of towing a boat or trailer with up to 6,000 lbs. of gross trailer weight (GTW) and 600 lbs. of tongue weight (TW). As long as your vehicle is rated higher than these capacities, you can safely tow a boat up to 6,000 lbs.
