Question:

Question regarding A-frame electric jacks: how do I pick the right weight capacity? I have a 30ft, 5450lb dry camper.

When using a trailer jack on your A-frame trailer, you do not lift the entire weight of the trailer. You are just lifting the tongue weight.

For a trailer the size you said your trailer weighs, I recommend a jack like the Lippert Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate, part # LC285318.

This jack has a switch for the LED light that shines downward so you can watch the coupler. It has an extend and retract switch for raising and lowering the jack. This jack as a retracted bracket height of 10-3/4 inches and an extended bracket height of 28-3/4 inches, and has a lift capacity of 3,500-lbs. And if you should lose power, an emergency crank is included to manually operate the jack.
