2 inch Hitch Recommendation for 2016 Ford Edge Sport
Question:
Hi, As per other commenters, all the Ford dealers Ive spoken to say you cant install a hitch on this model edge. However, on your site, it seems that you recommend and several people have installed the #75234 with success. I have a few questions: 1 Will this interfere with the cars rear parking sensor? I assume if I have a bike rack installed as well, that would, and I would need to deactivate the parking sensor while the bikes are on, but wanted to confirm that when not using a bike rack it wont affect the parking sensor. 2 What, if any, effect would installing this myself have on any of my warranty? 3 As for installation, do I need a lift or I can just simply lay on my back in the garage and do this? Alternatively, if I wanted to order the #75234 and have someone install it for me, I know you all dont provide recommended installers, but can you tell me what kind of auto shop I would be looking for? First time dealing with all of this, and didnt know I was getting a car where the manufacturer recommends not installing a hitch...so any help would be much appreciated!

We have confirmed that the 2 inch hitch part # 75234 is a confirmed fit for your 2016 Ford Edge Sport. Draw Tite has test fit your exact vehicle and found that the hitch fit just fine. Now if Ford told you that installing a hitch on your vehicle is not recommended by them we have to recommend you stick with their recommendation as they are the manufacturer of the vehicle and would know best if the vehicle is rated for a hitch and/or towing.
Hands-free Liftgate sensor areas will be limited to areas away from the center where hitch receiver opening is located.
The rear parking sensor would be unaffected if there wasn't a rack or trailer behind you. But if so, then it would throw fall alerts.
When you install an aftermarket part on your vehicle like a trailer hitch in this case, you are protected by the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act. This act states, in part, that unless the installation and the part caused a problem then the warranty cannot be voided. I recommend looking it up online.
Install would be pretty easy and would not require a lift. If you check out the video link I attached below you can see us installing this hitch on a similar 2016 Edge. Any mechanic in your area with a decent reputation would have no problem at all with this.
