Adding Security Features to a RockyMounts Bike Rack

Question:

Hi, Does this pin work with a Rocky Mounts Monorail rack on a 1-1/4inch hitch? It came with a threaded pin and has a threaded , so rattling in the horizontal axis isnt a problem, but the included lock is very weak. Hoping to beef up the security. Thanks,

Since your RockyMounts MonoRail bike rack has a threaded hitch pin to reduce the rattle, the SIlentACT Let's Go Aero Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # SHP2082 is not compatible as the rectangular block will need to fit inside the shank of the bike rack.

Since any lock that you add to your setup will act as a theft deterrent and could eventually be broken, the best way to ward off would-be thieves is to make it look like it will be a lot of work to get your bike/bike rack. What I recommend doing is adding the RockyMounts Maddox U-Lock # RKY3501 as well as either a 4 ft cable # RKY3849 or an 8 ft cable # RKY3850. You can wrap the cable around your bike and through the safety chain loops of your hitch provided that they are wide enough.
