Recommended Class III Hitch and 4-Bike Rack for 2017 Honda CRV

Question:

We just purchased a 2017 Honda CRV and need a bike carrier for two adult bikes and 2 junior bikes for 11 year old twins....we had a rear bike rack on our Honday Odyssey that we really like because it swung out so we could open the rear car hatch without a big deal but I cannot remember the name of the rack. Could you recommend the bast bike rack for us? Also, I think I will need to buy some sort of converter bar to get the kids bikes to fit on the carrier-thanks. P.S. We do not yet have a trailer hitch on the car so we need one of those too!

To transport bikes on a hitch-mount rack on your 2017 Honda CR-V the hitch I recommend is the 2-inch Class III type hitch from Draw-Tite, part # 76128. This offers no-drill installation as shown in the linked video and it is a relatively easy install as hitches go (rated by Draw-Tite as a 3 out of 10 on the difficulty scale).

For a bike carrier you can go with a hanging style (which might require the adapter bars for the kids' bikes) or you can go with a platform style. Generally hanging carriers weigh less and cost less. A great value in a 4-bike rack is the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR.

For bike adapter bars I suggest the # UB01 from Kuat. It works just like the other similar items we offer but costs less.
