Strap Recommendation for Curt Hitch Installed on Honda Element To Prevent Hitch Flex with Bike Rack
Question:
Hello!, I recently purchased a hitch for my 2003 Honda element C11700. The Hitch flexes over bumps a tremendous amount, I have a Kuat bike rack with two bikes on it and at times its almost scary. I am not exceeding the 200lb tongue weight limit. I think Ill have to modify it in some way weld some supports to car. Have you had anyone else with these issues? I had a VW Sportwagen with a 1 1/4 hitch from you guys on it, same bike rack, and it was rock solid. Thanks!

Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well.
You will need to use this strap to prevent the flex you are seeing. Failure to use the strap does void the warranty of the hitch.
Welding additional supports could possibly help but it wouldn't be known by how much as it's not possible to test it.
