Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 2005 Fleetwood Sequoia Pop Up Camper

Question:

Hello I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder and I pull a 2005 fleetwood sequoia popup camper 3500lbs also my family and gear add additional 1000lbs I installed airlift bags to help with the sag. Which they did but on the highway when trucks pass me I feel some sway. I am looking to purchase this Curt MV Weight Distribution System w/ Friction Sway Control - Round Bar - 10K GTW, 1K TW - C17062 from you. Is this what I need or do you recommend another configuration? If so please give me info. Also if I purchase from you will you help with install questions if they are needed. Thanks

A weight distribution system would be exactly what you would want to help remove suspension sag plus get rid of sway from when large vehicles pass or high wind.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Your trailer weighing 3,500 lbs means that the tongue weight would be between 350 and 525 lbs. So the best WD system we have would be the Strait Line part # RP66082 which has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lbs and features only sway control that works to fight sway before it starts.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.

You shouldn't still need to use the air bag kit, but if you choose to do so you would want to inflate the bags first before setting up the WD.
