Recommended Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch For 2012 Ford F-250

I am considering purchasing a 2003 Forest River Sandpiper, I have a 2012 F250 short bed. Will this be a good fit or risky combo?

I did some research and found that the 2003 Sandpiper fifth wheel trailer has a GVWR of 11,000-lbs. You should not have an issue towing it with your 2012 F-250.

You will need a sliding fifth wheel hitch since your truck has a 6-3/4 ft truck bed. You will need this because it will allow you to execute turns.

I recommend a sliding fifth wheel hitch like the Reese # RP30051. This has a 16,000-lb towing capacity. This hitch has dual jaws that help reduce jarring and chucking when towing.

The installation kit I recommend is part # RP50026-58. Installing this kit reduces the amount of drilling needed and cuts the installation time in half when compared to universal kits.
