For your 2014 BMX X5, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75600. This is one of 2 custom fit options we have available. Both of these options do require trimming the rear fascia. This Draw-Tite option doesn't have as noticeable a trimming required because it is on the underside of the bumper. I've attached a video that shows this trimming and how it is done with a utility knife for a clean and easy cut. You will need to obtain plastic push rivets from your dealer as the ones that come with this hitch do not work for models 2011 to present.
If you will be using this hitch for towing, I recommend the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT which requires no splicing into your factory wiring because it uses zero-contact-interface sensors.
For a ball mount, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 5" Drop, 5-1/2" Rise - 10K - Black # BWTS10037B. This is an adjustable ball mount that will allow you to tow multiple trailers level. It has two hitch balls included, a 2 inch and a 2-5/16 inch option to match the majority of trailer couplers. It also has a really nice stowable feature that gives you a clean look when not in use. It also protects you from bumping your shins when loading and unloading cargo. I recommend using a hitch lock like # e98882 to protect your investment.
