Recommended 5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch for 2012 Ram 3500 6 Foot Bed
Question:
I have a 2012 Ram 3500 CC short box. My current hitch is a Reese # 30047. I sold my 5th wheel camper and sold my hitch with it. I now need to purchase a new hitch but dont need the above bed rails. Is the Reese 30857 hitch the replacement hitch for the 30047 ? If not what model is. My new 5th wheel will weigh 12142 with a pin weight of 2252. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

For a sliding fifth-wheel trailer hitch that uses the same head as your previous Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047, I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider # RP30075. This sliding hitch will provide 11 inches of travel front to back and will work with the above-bed rails already installed on your Ram 3500. It has a gross towing weight capacity of 16,000 pounds and a vertical load limit of 4,000 pounds so it will work great with your new trailer.
The Pro Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch model PS30857 referenced in your question will also work with your existing rails, however it is not a corresponding model to your previous Reese hitch.
If you do not have one already, I recommend installing a 5th-Wheel Wiring Harness like the Bargman # 50-97-410. This will provide a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck for easy hookup with your trailer. I have attached an installation video for you to check out.
