Will Trailer 7-Way part # HM40975 Work as Replacement 7-Way for 2000 Jeep Cherokee
Question:
Hello! I have a question about part number 18159, the 7 way box mount, and part number HM40975, the 7/4 pin combo connection. I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ that the OEM hitch has rusted pretty badly inside, its time for a replacement. I am going to purchase the Curt 13160 receiver for it. I DO have the factory towing package already, so I have a 7 pin connector integrated into my hitch. With a new hitch, there is no provision. Is the HM40975 combo able to connect to my factory wiring? It does not say so on the website, but the connector looks eerily similar. If not, would the 18159 be able to fit the factory 7 pin so that I can mount it along the hitch? I have a custom bumper/spare tire swing so bumper mounting is not an option. Thank you for any and all help!

The good thing about 7-way connectors and harnesses is that across vehicle manufacturers they all use the same style of round connector. If your 2000 Jeep Cherokee has a round connector that looks like the correct mating connector for the part # HM40975 it would fit your vehicle and work well.
I attached a picture that shows what the round connector should look like on your vehicle to mate up to the # HM40975.
