I do have a possible solution for you, however the Fulton XLT Single Speed Winch XLT18ZB301 referenced in your question is no longer available from the manufacturer.
I recommend looking at the Fulton F2 Fully Enclosed Trailer Winch # FW16000101. This is very similar to the XLT and has a 1,600 pound weight capacity. The mounting base measures 3-3/8 inches long and the handle length can adjust from 6 to 7 inches.
