Troubleshooting Running Lights Not Working on New Gooseneck Trailer
Question:
Hey guys, My running light on my trailer will not work, I have a 30foot gooseneck only a couple months old. It has a 6 way plug. I still have brakes and turn signals and brake lights. I have check all the fuses I believe on my 2013 Dodge Ram Cummins with zero results for bad fuses. When they went out I was on a bumpy road and they were dimming and getting brighter for about 5 minutes maybe until they went out. I stopped when I got to a better area and couldnt get them to come back on. Any help would be appreciated.

Since your running lights were working when you first got your trailer I recommend checking the wiring. If the road was rough enough and you were going at a fast enough pace it could have jarred something loose.
You can also check the connector at the rear of your Ram to make sure that it is sending all of the signals properly. You can use a Circuit Tester # PTW2992 to do so.
To check your trailer I recommend starting at the 6-Way connector and making sure that the wire for the running lights (should be 12 o'clock pin) is secure. You will then want to move to your actual lights to make sure that the wiring is securely connected there as well. If all of that looks good then you will want to inspect the wiring on your trailer from the 6-Way to the lights. Look for any places that are bent, have exposed wiring, or are damaged. You can replace any of the wiring with 12 Gauge Wire # 12-1-1 and Butt Connectors # DW05745-5.
If you are getting a signal at the connector on your truck, all of the connections on your trailer are secure, and all of the wiring looks good then I recommend taking the trailer either to the dealer or a shop that can physically inspect the setup.
I have attached some review videos and a helpful article for you to check out as well.
