For your 2013 Ford F-150 with the 5.0 liter motor I recommend the Superchips Flashpaq # SU1845 (or # SU4845 for a California approved model). The Flashpaq works well with vehicles that have additional enhancements such as cold air intake.

If you want to have a monitor then the Edge Evolution with color screen # EP85350 or with touch screen # EP59YR are fantastic options. They just are not legal in California. Any of the above programmers will have various modes for different situations such as when towing or daily driving so they are very versatile.

Depending on how sophisticated the equipment and who is using the diagnostic equipment it is possible to see that a programmer was used even if the vehicle is returned to stock and the programmer removed prior to going to the dealer (which is what you will want to do). But here's the thing: Consumers of aftermarket products are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act states, in part, that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the problem in question.

So if your tailgate falls off because of a faulty hinge they can't deny coverage because of a programmer. But if you go to the highest power setting on a programmer and gun the motor all the time and it throws a rod then they can tell you that it won't be covered.
