Should Spring Bars on Weight Distribution be Upgraded if Bars are Underrated for Tongue Weight

Yes. If the spring bars you're currently using on your weight distribution system aren't rated high enough for your trailer's tongue weight then they won't be doing their job properly.

If you can load your trailer to reduce the tongue weight without dropping it below 10 percent of the trailer's total weight that may be another solution.

You may be able to replace just the spring bars themselves instead of the entire system. Let me know which weight distribution system you have I can find a proper set up for you.

You'll also need to add in the weight behind your tow vehicle's rear axle to determine the proper tongue weight to find the correct system.
