A sway control unit like the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 can attach to either side of the trailer tongue. To attach it to the driver's side of the tongue, you will just need to weld the Sway Control Tab # 3442 to the driver side of your ball mount platform. I recommend having a certified professional perform the necessary welding.
The adapter brackets like the Reese # RP26003 can only be used for attaching a sway control unit on the passenger side.
