Fifth-Wheel Trailer to Gooseneck Hitch Adapter Options for a 2011 Dodge Ram 2500

Question:

I have a 2011 Dodge 2500 short bed with a Draw-Tite gooseneck hitch. Now I need a fifth-wheel hitch for my new camper, but I still need both - what are my options?

In order to continue using the Draw-Tite gooseneck hitch while towing a camper which requires a fifth-wheel hitch, you will need to use an adapter, such as the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter, # CAB-C5GX1216. This piece has a pin weight capacity of 4,000 lbs, a towing capacity of 20,000 lbs and an offset design that is meant for use in short-bed trucks.

Please keep in mind that an adapter will be unable to give you the same type of turning clearance that a sliding hitch would, so be sure to be cautious when making sharp turns so that the trailer does not come into contact with your vehicle.

I have included links to a video review of the Convert-A-Ball adapter, and also added a link to a help article about using adapters to tow a fifth-wheel trailer with a gooseneck hitch.
