Needing Increased Clearance Between 5th Wheel Trailer and Ford F-250 Truck Bed
Question:
I purchased a curt e16 with Ford legs when I looked everything up i saw adjustable from 13-17. When I installed the setup in my f250 the hitch is only 14inch from my box at the tallest setting. With my pinbox adjusted all the way down I now only have 5inch of clearance! What is the soloution to this? Are the Ford oem legs 3inch shorter then legs that go to a normal rail system? Are the curt legs completely useless or does curt make a taller head with more adjustment. Just doesnt make sense.

The Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Head, # C16515, and the Curt OEM Legs for Ford Prep Package, # C16017, when used together will have a hitch height that measures 11-1/2 to 13-1/2 inches.
If this height is too low , then re-attaching the original legs and using the Reese Rail Adapter # RP30156 will give you an additional clearance. With the original legs connected to your Curt E16 Hitch, # C16115, the adapter will add about 2 inches of height when used with your this hitch.
The Curt A16 5th Wheel Hitch With OEM Legs, # C16520-16017, has the hitch height adjustment of 13 to 17 inches if you want to go with a complete new hitch.
I have linked a couple of product review videos for you to watch.
