Trailer Valet XL Hitch Ball Rotating During Use
Question:
So I have purchased a trailer valet xl for my popup camper but I am having the problem that when I try to back it up the trailer valets wheels move forward but is bending where that ball goes. I am not sure what actual surge system I have but I can send a picture of what is going on. I have contacted trailer valet but havent got the greatest responses so I was asking you guys. The picture is of me pointing where it is bending back.

From the picture that you sent (thank you for that) and the way that you are describing that the Trailer Valet XL # TVXL2 is moving I would have to say that you might not be installing the Trailer Valet XL properly on your coupler.
I have attached a review video of the installation process for you to follow along. You will want to skip to the 5:50 mark where he assembles and then installs the Valet on one of our trailers.
It looks like you have the plate facing the correct direction in your picture so I will briefly sum up how to install the Valet on the coupler. You will want to start off by raising the tongue of your trailer with the jack so that the Valet can fit under the coupler. After lining the hitch ball of the Valet with your coupler you will lower the coupler on the Valet and secure the hitch ball to the coupler by locking the release level on the coupler. You will then need to raise the tongue back up with your jack and tighten the locking nut on the Valet while it is still suspended in the air. Once it is hand tight you will want to take the included wrench-like tool to really tighten down the locking nut while making sure the Valet is level with the coupler.
If you follow those steps correctly then you shouldn't be experiencing play. The only other thing I can think of, if this doesn't fix your problem, is to make sure that you have the correct hitch ball size for your coupler. Using a 2 inch hitch ball in a 2-5/16 inch coupler would produce the same results that you are describing.
If neither of these solutions work just let me know and I will help you to troubleshoot further.
