Recommended Tires Size 5.30-12 For Highway Speeds

Question:

I bought a trailer that came with 5.30x12 tires/wheel on a 5 lug nut config. The trailer has been transform into a tear trailer and Id like to get bigger radial tires for highway speeds. I am no expert on this, and Itd be a great help to know how I could go about changing to a 15inch tire. Am I going to need a different axel or can I modify the axel to suit the new dimensions of the 15inch wheels? The specs of the trailer are attached as an image. Thank you fir your time and assistance.

Helpful Expert Reply:

Moving to larger tires and wheels can cause all kinds of trouble with sway and requires replacing a lot of parts on your trailer. My recommendation is to go with a replacement tire that is the same size and rated for highway speed. The Taskmaster 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Spoke Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # AM30820, has a highway speed rating, but they consider this 65 mph maximum. This will actually make your trailer handle better than replacing the fenders, flipping your axle and adding different wheel/tire combinations.
