Measuring to Select Ball Mount with Right Amount of Drop to Tow Trailer Level with 2004 Ford Ranger

Question:

approximately how many inches is the ball from the top of the 2004 Ranger bumper? Is there some type of step down available if it is too high? The trailer seems to be level when the trailer ball mechanism is about 8inch below the top of the bumper.

On your 2004 Ford Ranger multi-fit trailer hitch # 75082 will be positioned so that the receiver is a little bit below the bottom of the bumper.

In order to tow the trailer level you will just need a ball mount with the right amount of drop. I have included a help article that explains how to measure for rise or drop.

Or you could use an adjustable ball mount such as # C45900 if you tow more than one trailer. I have linked a video review of this ball mount for you.
