Workaround Solution for 12 Volt Power Circuit of 7-Way Not Complete on 1996 Ford F-250

Question:

I have just installed a 7 way trailer connector on my 1996 F-250. The four wires from the lighting connector are working correctly, but the 3 wires from the other connector are suspect. I dont have a brake controller, so I cant test that wire, but the wire for the backup lights and the wire that provides 12 volt auxiliary power to the trailer are both dead. The fuse in the Power Distribution panel is good, and I swapped the trailer relay with the known-good horn relay. I also made sure the key was on when I tested those wires. Any ideas?

If it's not corrosion on the pin or it being bent it's a wiring issue that may be pretty hard to track down. The easy work around it to take 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) and run wire from that pin to the positive post of your battery through a breaker like part # 9510. This will allow you to complete the circuit without having to track down where the exact problem is.
