Bolt-On Swivel Trailer Jack for Side-Mounting on Trailer Frame
Question:
I am wanting to know the quality of an A-Frame jack on your web site or possible help with buying one. I have a clearance issue that I am working with. my current one that I have is an Atwood model unknown however the clearance to top of handle in stowed position is 14, to high, my tailgate hits it and a retracted of 9-1/4 1st, is the TJA-5000B a good jack? Who makes it and what mfg does it compare to? 2nd, can you help me locate an A-frame that has MAX clearance with handle folded in stowed position no more or preferable less that 12inch and a retracted dimension of about 9? Please help. Thank you. Also, do you have a wheel that is smaller than 6inch for the jacks?

If tailgate clearance at your trailer's a-frame tongue jack is a concern you might want to switch to the Bulldog Topwind A-Frame Jack # BD155032. This 5K jack requires only 10-3/16-inches of clearance above the mounting bracket (not including the handle) so it should fit at your tailgate.
Bulldog is part of Cequent Performance Products, parent company of brands like Reese, Tekonsha, Draw-Tite, Fulton and others. This is a high-quality jack that will have replacement parts available into the future.
The jack you referenced # TJA-5000-B is made by Ram and as an entry-level product that is priced well below the Bulldog it will work well certainly but may not have the same availability of repair parts. The cost to the manufacturer of maintaining replacement parts for a product tends to be built in to the retail price. The entry level product will work just fine but when the times comes for maintenance you may find it easier to service the Bulldog jack.
With this jack you can use wheel # BD500245 which is 6-inches in diameter. Please note that any caster wheel will NOT be rated a high as the jack. This wheel is rated for 1200-lbs. To keep the full 5K jack capacity you would need to use a foot plate # BD018564.
Another option is to mount a bolt-on side-frame-mount swing-away jack like # FXPD15L or to use a longer ball mount that will let the trailer sit further back from the tailgate. Extra-long ball mounts are linked for you.
