If you are not seeing a green light on the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller # 39510 after you have connected the trailer to your 2017 Toyota Tacoma, I recommend first checking the trailer and vehicle connector for any corrosion or debris that may be preventing a secure connection with your vehicle. Simply cleaning any dirt you find may resolve your issue.

Next, on the trailer side, check to make sure all your ground connections are made to clean, corrosion free bare metal surfaces. A bad ground can certainly lead to the problems you are having with the controller recognizing the trailer.

According to Tekonsha, not seeing a red light when pressing on the brake pedal can be caused by a few things. First, make sure you are testing the brake pedal while driving. Because this is a proportional brake controller, if the vehicle is not moving, pressing on the brake pedal will not send enough signal to the controller to activate the trailer's brakes.

Next, check to make sure you are receiving signal from the brake light - you can test the voltage on the red wire coming from the brake controller. Tekonsha also recommends making sure the sensor is set properly according to the leveling guide in the installation manual.

Lastly, as you referenced in your question, it's possible that you have a blown stoplight fuse. Check the fuse under the hood of your truck to see if this is the case and replace it if needed.

If the brake controller is not powering on at all, I recommend checking the black wire at the back of the brake controller with a circuit tester like # BTMT15. You should have constant 12 volt power to this wire.

If you are still not able to get the Tekonsha Voyager working properly in your vehicle, please let me know and I will be happy to look into this further.
