Where Does Blue Wire of 7-Way Adapter part # 37185 Need to Attach

Question:

Can I use the chmsl wire to connect to the trailer brake wire on the 7 way 47185 Hopkins adapter? I had a six way and didnt know what to do with the blue wire and I assumed it was for the brakes, but after looking at my owners manual, it is for the center high mount stop light chmsl.

If you attached the brake output wire of your 7-way adapter # 37185 to a third brake light circuit it would lock up the trailer brakes everytime you touched the vehicle's brake pedal. You need a brake controller to smoothly apply the brakes of the trailer. A brake controller is designed to apply varying voltage to the brake output circuit to put different amounts of braking on the trailer's brake assemblies as needed.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.

I attached a help article on brake controllers which has more info as well.
