Recommended Hitch Mounted Bike Carrier Along With Security Components
Question:
i am looking into a Thule TH934XTR bike rack. at the bottom are some notes i am not clear about. it is mentioned that we can buy a hitch lock THSTL2 and you can lock your bikes by buying Thule locking cable one key system... just buy two-pack of Thule lock cores. i do not understand how buying 2 pack what is the product link will allow me to lock my bike and lock the bike rack. also will a swingman bike frame adaptor work on this bike rack

The Thule Hitching Post Pro - Folding Tilting 4 Bike Rack w Anti-Sway - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # TH934XTR is a very nice bike rack that will fit either 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch receivers or 2 inch receivers. This rack has unique components like the HoldFast cradles with cushion and anti-sway arms. This hitch mounted bike rack also comes with an anti-rattle threaded hitch pin. What it does not come with is locks for the bikes to the rack or the rack to the hitch. If you are interested in this additional security, you can use the Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device # THSTL2 which adds the locking component to the threaded anti-rattle pin.
If you'd like to add a cable lock to secure your bikes, you can use a cable lock like the # e98891, or you can use a cable lock like the Thule Cable Lock w/ One Key System Lock - 6' Long # TH538XT. This particular cable lock can be re-keyed to match the # THSTL2 if you desire, but to be keyed alike will require matching cores like you can find in the Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders - Qty 2 # TH450200 .
With any hanging rack bike carrier, I recommend using a bike adapter bar like the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's, Children's, and Alternative Frame Bikes # 64005, because it adds a top rail tube to the bikes without this component. This adapter will give you more level travel and greater ground clearance on the step-through frame bikes. I've attached a video to help.
