How Weather Resistant are the Tekonsha T-One Trailer Wiring Harnesses

Question:

I just had this installed by my local auto shop and instead of putting the wires in my trunk area, they zip tied to the actual hitch. Is this safe? Are the wires waterproof?

The T-One Trailer Wiring Harness, # 118651, that you had installed on you vehicle will work fine in all weather conditions. The plug connections where the wires connect to the plug has a water tight fit.

I would suggest apply some dielectric grease, # LT37534, on the plug ends. this grease will keep water out of the electrical connections when in use or not.

If you are unhappy with how your local shop has mounted the harness, then I recommend a 4-Pole Mounting Bracket, # 18144. This bracket can be attached to your hitch and will tidy up the harness's hanging wires.
