Will the Pollak 7- and 4-Pole Connector Plug Directly Into Factory Gray Plug on 1999 Ford F-250
Question:
I am interested in HM40975. I have a 1999 Ford F-250 Superduty with the factory tow package. I was wondering if this part will plug directly into the gray square factory plug on the frame rail, or do I also need a wiring harness? The factory gray square plug is operational but everything from there to the trailer connection is trashed. Thanks!

Expert Reply:
The Pollak 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket # HM40975 does not come with any wiring, just the socket and a mounting bracket. If the wiring on your 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty is shot back to the factory square gray plug then you will need to use some replacement wiring. If you use the Curt T-Connector # C55243, it will give you the wiring that you need. You can then use the Pollak # HM40975 instead of the 7-Way socket that is provided with the Curt T-Connector package so that you can have a 7-Way and 4-Way wiring harness.
