Recommended Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch For Additional Clearance Between Truck And Trailer
Question:
is there a slider that can be used to add some length between the 5th wheel and the truck

Expert Reply:
For additional length between your 5th wheel trailer and the truck when turning, you can use a 5th wheel slider hitch like the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16521. This will give you 11 inches of travel for turning, but you can only tow with the hitch moved forward.
Another option is to use an automatic sliding hitch like the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 18,000 lbs # DM8550034. This automatically sliding hitch will move to give you the best clearance and has a travel of 14 inches.
Depending on your trailer pin box, there may be a Reese Sidewinder replacement pin box to give you a change in the pivot point of 22 inches, but this can only be used with certain pin box and hitch combinations. If you are interested in this option, I will need your pin box number which is normally on a sticker right on your pin box. Another option is to measure for fit using the attached help article.
