Recommended Weight Distribution System And Suspension Enhancement For 2017 Dodge 1500 Quad Cab 4x4

Question:

I have a 31foot rv that I use to pull with a 2005 F-150 and pulled fine with the weight distribution system. I recently bought a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4 and my camper squats the truck quite a bit and sways. The camper dry weight is 7,000lbs and I usually have a couple coolers in the back of the truck. What do you recommend to help this? Will it take away from ride when not towing? Will it lift the rear of the truck?

It sounds like you may need a different weight distribution system for sway control as well as suspension enhancement for your 2017 Ram 1500.

For a weight distibution system, based on the weight of your camper's dry weight and taking some educated guesses at total tongue weight (which included loaded trailer tongue weight and any cargo weight behind the rear axle of your truck like coolers) I recommend the Strait-Line Weight Distribution w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 15,000 lbs GTW, 1,500 lbs TW # RP66130. This system has a total tongue weight rating for between 800 and 1500 lbs. This system requires a hitch ball like # C40030 and a shank like the Reese Weight Dist Shank - 12-1/4" Long - 2" Drop to 6-1/2" Rise - 1,500 lbs TW # RP54970. This is a great system that is the only one that actively fights trailer sway with its hot rolled spring bars and dual cam system. It is extremely adjustable to meet your specific needs.

For suspension enhancement, I recommend the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TDR1500DQ. These extremely durable jounce springs engage and compress under the weight of a load. They work independently side to side to compensate for off center loads and reduce body roll. It will give you a smooth ride when you are not hauling a load. They assist your current suspension by reducing sag and increasing stability by becoming more rigid as more weight is added.
