Brake Controller Recommendation for 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan

Question:

I own a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan with the factory tow package. I recently purchased a 2010 Coleman Utah tent trailer and am trying to understand: a if I need a brake controller, b what the best one is for my needs, and c what does it cost for parts and installation labour. If I need one, it sounds like Id want a proportional one. Any recommendations you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Anytime the trailer you plan to tow is more than 50 percent of the towing capacity of the vehicle we recommend a brake controller. With a tent trailer you are going to be right there so I would go ahead and get one to be cautious.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.

Since your 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan comes with the tow package that means you have a 4-way already installed. So to convert it to a 7-way and install a brake controller you would want the part # ETBC7 which comes with the 7-way and everything needed to install the controller.

I attached an install video for this kit on a 2014 Grand Caravan just like yours.
