How to Correct for Rattle Between Exhaust and Curt Hitch 13526 on 2006 Hyundai Tucson

Question:

Hello! I have installed the hitch 13526 Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver on Hyundai Tucson 2006 GLS v6 but started to get a problem - the gap between the back side of the installed hitch and exhaust muffler is rather small and I hear the sound when muffler touches the hitch when I ride over some uneven roads. Is there a way to silence the muffler? I would imagine some rubber pads could help but these pads should sustain the high temperature from the muffler. Are there any other ideas? The hitch 13526 is confirmed to fit my vehicle. Thanks in advance!

No problem; we can help you correct that minor exhaust rattle from your new Curt hitch # 13526. This issue does come up once in a while and it is not a big deal to fix it. The linked article will guide you through the simple process of slightly moving the exhaust hangers to give you enough hitch-to-exhaust clearance to avoid any rattle.

You are correct that use of rubber or similar material would not be a good idea due to heat.
