Recommendation for a Weight Distribution System for a 2014 Ford F150 and a 29ft Trailer

Question:

I am considering the blue ox 1000. I just purchased a 29foot Trailrunner 29msb. The sticker GVWR is 9000lbs. It has a Hitch weight of 770. I have a well equipped F-150 eco with an 11,000lb towing capacity. Will the this sway control WD hitch be a good fit?

When trying to decide on a weight distribution system for your towing rig, you will need to know the total tongue weight of your set-up. The total tongue weight will be a fully loaded ready to tow trailer, plus any weight located behind the rear axle of your Ford F-150. Once you have found your total tongue weight, you will be able to decided on the correct system for your towing application.

I have attached an article that will explain how to find the total tongue weight of your towing rig. The article mentions using the etrailer Tongue Scale, # e99044, to help find the tongue weight.

Now once you find the total tongue weight, you want to pick a system that your total tongue weight will fall in between the systems tongue weight range. For example the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System, # BXW1000, has a tongue weight range of 750 - 1000 lbs. If your total tongue weight of both the trailer and truck falls in between this rating, then the Blue Ox system will work well with your set-up.

You do not want system that is too high. This will give a rough ride and put too much stress on both trailer and vehicle. Also a system that is too low will basically negate any benefits the WD system would provide.
