Recommended Trailer Connector For Installing Brake Controller On 2012 Toyota Highlander With 4-way
Question:
2012 Toyota Highlander prewired from factory with 4way brake wiring by bumper. Have brake controller. Need wiring and adapter for: brake controller, 7 way and front to back battery. Please advise.

Since there is no plug-in adapter available for you r2012 Highlander, you will need to do some hardwiring.
I recommend part # ETBC7. This plugs into the 4--way you have on your truck and you then need to run the additional wiring that gives you a working 7-way and 4-way. I have attached a drawing that shows how the wiring is run for the brake controller and the # ETBC7.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
