Brake Controller Installation on 2007 New Body Style Silverado  

Question:

I have a 2007 silverado z71 trying to install a brake control . the brake control i have has 4 wires red black blue white under the dash the wires are red blue white blue/white orange and all other brake controler ive seen have 4 wires how do i hook it up.can you send me a diagram

I do not have a diagram available, but I can run you through the process and provide you with a link to an install video that you should find helpful. The video shows a controller being installed on a 2011 Silverado, but the process would be identical with your truck.

The red tow package wire connects to the black wire on the controller, the dark blue tow package wire attaches to the blue wire on the controller, the light blue and white striped tow package wire connects to the red wire on the controller and the white wires attach together. The orange wire is used for an illumination circuit, and is not used to install your controller. You can tape off the end of this wire and bundle it up out of the way.

Some GM trucks will also require some additional connections under the hood in the power distribution box. See the FAQ article I have linked you to, which features photos and step-by-step instructions showing how these connections are made.
