Can Weight Distribution System be Used on Trailer With V-Nose Trailer
Question:
I have a Rav4, V6 with tow pkg and a 6x12 Vnose Featherlight cargo trailer and Im thinking I should put a stabilizing hitch on. But, the trailer has a solid aluminum plate welded on the V behind hitch. What should I be looking for?

For V-nose trailers typically the only way to mount the frame hangers for the weight distribution system is to use bolt on hangers like the # RP58305 which attach to the side of the trailer frame and do not require any vertical clearance above the trailer's frame. Without seeing your setup it's a bit hard to say, but most likely you would need to mount these behind the aluminum plate you mentioned having on your trailer.
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
