Comparing the Timbren and Air Lift Suspension Enhancement Kits for a 2008 Toyota Sienna

Question:

Im looking at the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement # TTORSEN04 versus the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs on 2008 Toyota Sienna. Whats the difference between the systems? Which one is better and why? Im hauling a 5 by 8 trailer with camping gear. Thanks!

Both the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement # TTORSEN04 and the Air Lift 1000 Helper Springs # AL60732 work in conjunction with the rear coil springs of your 2008 Toyota Sienna van.

The Timbren system uses 2 Aeon hollow rubber springs that fit inside the Sienna's coil spring. The rubber spring provides additional support by increasing resistance between the upper rubber spring and the lower mount that is attached to rear axle. So, when weight is added to the rear of the van, the Timbren spring will help prevent the rear body from sagging due to the added weight.

The Air Lift 1000 Helper Springs will provide the same enhancement as the Timbren springs, but use an air bag instead of the rubber jounce bump spring. The bags use air to cushion and enhance the vehicle's suspension.

Both systems will work well on your Sienna, but If I have to recommend one, I like the Timbren system for a couple of reasons.

First, the Timbren spring have less components involved to function. The Air Lift bags have air lines, barbed fittings, and air valves that could leak causing the bags to deflate.

Second, the Timbren springs are made of a stronger material and would stand up to road conditions or damage from items that you might contact with on the highway. The air bags are made of a durable material, but the rubber spring is a stronger product.

I have linked two installation videos of both springs being installed on Sienna vans. I also have linked an article that has more info on the Timbren system for you to review.
